Cups are one of the most under-discussed items in a molded fiber tableware range. Buyers treat a cup as a simple thing, but the specification actually changes a lot between a 1-ounce sauce pot, an 8-ounce drink cup and a 16-ounce soup cup — and most of it is in the rim, the wall height, the unit weight and the packing, not in the word "cup". This guide explains the cup range, what each format is for, which lid or holder fits, and what to check before you place a bulk order.
Reference specifications from the Zhong Xin product range. Values are as listed on the product data; confirm current dimensions, weights and packing with your quotation.
| Model | Item | Size (Ø × H, mm) | Unit weight | Case pack |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| CP010 | 1 oz Cup | 62 × 17 | 2 g | 100 × 20 = 2000 |
| CP021 | 2 oz Cup | 62 × 30 | 2.5 g | 100 × 20 = 2000 |
| CP040 | 4 oz Cup | 75 × 48 | 4.5 g | 100 × 20 = 2000 |
| CP070 | 7 oz Cup | 96 × 48 | 7 g | 100 × 15 = 1500 |
| CP081 | 8 oz Cup | 79 × 88 | 8 g | 50 × 20 = 1000 |
| CP012 | 12 oz Cup | 90 × 112 | 12.5 g | 50 × 25 = 1250 |
| CP016 | 16 oz Cup | 90 × 122 | 15 g | 25 × 25 = 625 |
| CP85 | Ice Cream Cup | 100 × 90 | 14 g | 50 × 10 = 1000 |
| TW-12 | 12 oz Soup Cup | 125 × 50 | 10 g | 50 × 10 = 500 |
| TW-16N | 16 oz Soup Cup | 125 × 60 | 12 g | 50 × 10 = 500 |
| CP400 | 400 ml Soup Cup | 128 × 63 | 10 g | 50 × 8 = 400 |
1 oz and 2 oz cups are for individual sauce portions, dips and dressings served with a meal; 4 oz and 7 oz cups step up to salsa, coleslaw and side servings. These are light items (2–7 g) and pack densely — 2,000 pieces per carton for the smaller sizes — so freight per piece stays low even at modest order volume.
8 oz works for small cold drinks and water service; 12 oz and 16 oz cover the standard takeaway drink. The wall is taller here, which is why the unit weight rises and the case count drops. Confirm whether the drink is hot or cold, and whether a lid is needed, before committing to a size.
The soup cup has a wide, shallow mouth (125–128 mm) for easy filling and eating rather than drinking, and is matched to a dedicated lid. Ask for the heat tolerance if the soup is served hot and the cup may be handled immediately after filling.
The ice cream cup (Ø100 × 90 mm) is a deeper format sized for frozen desserts; confirm the moisture resistance for condensation in freezers and counter display.
A lid only fits the cup code it is made for. The soup cup has a dedicated pulp lid; plate and tray formats carry their own PET lids. When you order cups, name the cup model and confirm the lid code in the same quotation so the pair ships together.
For drinks-to-go, recycled-paper cup holders come in 1-hole, 2-hole and 4-hole carriers. They are a separate line item and are designed to carry the paired drink cups — confirm the holder matches the cup mouth diameter before ordering.
Do I need a different cup for hot soup and for cold drinks?
Yes in practice. Soup cups are wider and shallower for serving, drink cups are taller for holding, and each has its own lid. Match the cup to the job rather than using one format for everything.
Are lid and cup always supplied together?
They are separate line items matched by model code. Order the lid at the same time and confirm the code so the pair ships together.
What is the difference between a sauce cup and a drink cup?
Sauce cups are small and shallow (1–7 oz), drink cups are taller (8–16 oz). The geometry, not just the volume, is what changes.
Are bagasse cups microwave safe?
Bagasse is formed under heat and pressure and is generally microwave-suitable for reheating; confirm the stated temperature range for the specific item and whether a coating is present.
What documents should I ask for?
A food-contact statement for the destination market and, where you make compostability claims, the independent directory listing for the exact product.
Tell us the cup format, the quantity and the destination, and we will confirm the specification, lid code, packing and lead time. Email your enquiry to info@fiber-product.com.
